Ethan Wright has followed the Monster Hunter series for years, from its console hunts to this first full open world outing built for phones. He came to Outlanders the way he comes to every action RPG: sceptical of mobile compromises, and ready to be proven wrong. An island the size of Aesoland, manual combat with no auto-combat safety net, and monsters that punish lazy play did most of the proving.
What he does here
Ethan tests every build this site publishes on our standing phone bench, a Samsung Galaxy A55 on Android 15, a Google Pixel 8 on Android 16, a Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Pro on Android 14, an Infinix Note 40 Pro on Android 14, and a Samsung Galaxy A13 on Android 12. He installs the XAPK exactly the way a reader would, then hunts: story quests, free exploration, guild play and four player co-op, across several days rather than one first run.
His reviewing standard
Before a word is published he checks the things that decide whether a hunting game lasts: whether the file on the page matches the genuine package, whether each weapon type feels distinct in a real fight, whether co-op holds up with a full party, and whether performance survives the biggest monsters on the oldest phone on the bench. Anything that is only impressive in the first hour gets written up as exactly that.
